He has been one of the shining lights in the Blues' improved form, having helped to secure their third GUINNESS PRO12 win on the spin in a thrilling clash with Scarlets.
James, who has collected ten Test caps, had already won attention from Warren Gatland by taking part in Wales' Rugby World Cup training camp in the summer.
And Wilson believes his wing wizard is owed serious consideration ahead of next month's Six Nations.
"I thought Tom was simply outstanding (against Scarlets)," said Wilson. "He showed his character in that game.
"He threw an intercept pass early in the game that would have disappointed him. But he showed what a professional and what a good player he is that he bounced back from that.
"He produced some really good rugby and he's a real attacking threat for us with the ball.
"I would imagine he is providing a headache to the international coaches because he has played like that in several games this season."
