And Pivac has stressed the importance of that form continuing as they chase a top-four finish - starting with the trip to Connacht on Saturday.
"We have to put that competition behind us, re-group and focus on the GUINNESS PRO12, which is clearly important to us with the side we're building for next year. We've got to make sure we're in Europe," Pivac told the club website.
"We wanted to be in the game over 80 minutes putting in a solid performance to get some of that respect back.
"It was pleasing at the end to score that try but clearly it wasn't enough on the night but we felt it was a big step up on last week.
"To be fair, you can see from the outside looking in that GUINNESS PRO12 was our focus early on in that competition.
"It's unfortunate with what had happened at the Rugby World Cup and injuries we picked up ourselves - when you get to Europe the depths of the squads vary. We don't quite have the same depth as others."
