As far as the second-row is concerned Jake Ball will be away with Wales and Maselino Paulino is currently suspended, meaning Bulbring's arrival could not have happened at a better time.
Bulbring, 26, brings an impressive pedigree, having appeared for the Kings and Lions in Super Rugby and is a former South Africa Under-20 international.
He arrives at a Scarlets side still top of the GUINNESS PRO12 table despite their loss to Connacht this weekend, and Pivac is hoping he can make an immediate impact.
"We're delighted to be in a position to welcome David to the Scarlets and being able to utilise his experience for the remainder of the season," he said.
"Injuries have hampered us in that area of the pack in recent months and having a player of David's experience and high work rate join us at this all-important period of the PRO12 has a huge significance."
