The issue, which occurred back in August, also ruled him out of representing his country at last year's World Cup and the current Six Nations.
But the winger is now back on the pitch, playing in his side's last four league matches, including touching down against Newport Gwent Dragons.
His return also coincided with Treviso recording back to back victories over Cardiff Blues and the Dragons although they have since lost to Munster and Scarlets.
They currently find themselves bottom of the table, three points adrift of Italian rivals Zebre although Esposito insists belief remains high in the team of finishing the campaign on a positive note.
"It was not easy to return after five months. I'm fine, but to be 100% I need to play a number of games," he said.
"In general I do not consider myself satisfied with my performances. Against Cardiff, I played but after the game I was more happy for the result than for my performance.
"It was better against Newport where I think I played a good game. And finally against Munster and Scarlets, although there so much regret both individually and as a team because we know that we could have done better.
"As for the team, our goal until the end of the season is to win the most points without looking at the standings.
"To avoid last place would be a small consolation, we all believe and we have shown we can handle playing anyone home and away."
