The 21-year-old was named in Rob Howley's Six Nations squad despite being born in Australia to English parents - but having spent most of his life in Wales he decided to commit his future to the red shirt.
King has had a fine season in an Ospreys shirt with two tries in the RaboDirect PRO12 and some bullish displays in Europe in which he filled the considerable shoes left by Wales stars Alun Wyn Jobes and Ian Evans.
And having thrown his all into his adopted country, King claims there are no split loyalties in the King household.
"Dad's the No.1 fan at the moment," King told Wales Online. "I've had to have a word with him to tone it down a bit!
"I've been with the Ospreys for five years now, and I've just signed for another three years. So my future's here. I've lived in Wales pretty much all my life.
"I was born in Australia but I lived in North Wales from my first year in primary school up until sixth form, when I went to Ellesmere.
"I've spent almost all my life in Wales and I've just bought a new house in Wales with my girlfriend, so it makes sense to play for Wales."
