Joe Schmidt's side head to South Africa this summer and Healy could provide some of the stardust that their backline need.
The men in green only scored two tries in their first three games of the Six Nations against Wales, France and England so clearly are in need of a cutting edge at the top level.
And Healy - with nine league tries this season - has that in spades.
The 27-year-old has had to bide his time - featuring for Ireland U20s back in 2009 and Emerging Ireland as recently as last year.
But his elusive running and creativity for Pat Lam's Connacht side have seen him jump up a level in the 2015/16 campaign.
A fine run-in for the Irish province - with the PRO12 play-offs and European Champions Cup Rugby to secure - will surely earn Healy that long-awaited call-up.
