The derby double header is in its fourth year and as well as local pride, there are European places up for grabs and plenty of Welsh stars looking to impress ahead of the summer tour to New Zealand.
It all boils down to an exciting mix for Gibbes who cannot wait his charges onto the park.
"If you can't get excited about Judgement Day, I don't know what you can get excited about in life," Gibbes told the South Wales Evening Post.
"There's going to be more than 50,000 people in the park and we are going to be against a hell of a rival in the Blues. We know they'll be coming after us, but it's a challenge we have to meet head-on.
"We're pretty excited by that."
The Ospreys haven't lost a Judgement Day game since its inception and have beaten the Blues in 2013 and 2015.
There are no expectations of an easy ride come Saturday however as the Ospreys come up against an in-form Blues side that have won their last four Guinness PRO12 games.
The free-scoring Blues are, jointly with Glasgow Warriors, the leading try scorers in the Guinness PRO12 with 57 which is 12 more than the Ospreys have managed.
"We are up for that challenge and we're excited, and I can tell you now there's a changing shed full of players ready to rock and roll for that," Giddes added.
"The Blues are a team who you need to respect and we will respect them.
"Their set-piece has been going well, they've been shifting the ball around, too, and they're very physical, so it's going to be a very good game.
"As a forwards coach, Danny (Wilson) is a good operator up front. He has a smart forward pack there, so it's going to be a hell of a challenge and one I'm looking forward to."
