But, just as was the case last term, Scott claims his side can use their underdog tag to best effect when they visit Vicarage Road for the final fixture of the pool stage on Sunday.
The Gunners have not had the best of runs domestically, their last win in the RaboDirect PRO12 came against Connacht on December 1 - four games ago.
And while Scott could be forgiven for letting his mind slip to the upcoming Six Nations with Scotland, he's more concerned with getting wins on the board with his club.
"We need something to spark us off, and maybe the Heineken Cup can be that catalyst for us," said Scott.
"Being an underdog could work in our favour in the Heineken Cup, it did last year and we took some big scalps.
"It's hard to play in a losing team, but being an international player now mistakes get highlighted a lot more.
"I've been reasonably pleased with my form, it's been a bit up and down but I've found myself more in the spotlight, it's a hard mental challenge.
"Going back into the RaboDirect PRO12 a lot of international guys will be away with the Six Nations, but we're confident of getting back to winning ways."
