Kennedy, a product of the Alloa and Stirling County clubs, started the season as an elite development player with Edinburgh before being sent west and earned a deal with the Warriors.
And while an international cap is unlikely this spring, being able to mix it with the country's best in training is still a dream come true for Kennedy.
He told The Scotsman: "I'm an elite development player, so this is a major shock for me. For me it is all about learning at this stage of my career. I want to take as much as I can from each training session.
"Learning from guys like Henry [Pyrgos] and Greig Laidlaw will be great, and obviously there will be people there who I haven't worked with before too.
"I was actually asleep when I got the phone call. I was in even more of a daze when I was told the news.
"I was struggling to speak when I found out. It was a massive surprise for me. [Scott Johnson, interim Scotland head coach] told me I was going to be involved and that I would get an email that day.
"I didn't tell anyone apart from my parents. I was bubbling inside."
