Since Prydie burst on the scene by pulling on a Wales shirt against Italy in the 2010 Six Nations, going on to touch down against South Africa just three months later to become the nation's youngest ever try scorer, he has failed to live up to the hype.
But this hasn't put Edwards off, insisting a move to Newport would suit both club and player right down to the ground.
"Tom's a great rugby player," said Edwards. "We're interested in any good, young Welsh player. If that came about we'd be very happy about it.
"It would be great for him to come to this environment because our average age now [in the squad] is 22.
"He would fit in well and it would be great to have him."
