Charteris wants to end Dragons stay on a high

Along with his fellow Wales Grand Slam winners Dan Lydiate and Toby Faletau, Charteris will start at Murrayfield but while the former two started every Six Nations game, the 29-year-old lock was restricted to just two appearances off the bench.

In total he has only made one appearance - against Munster - this season after a wrist injury derailed his season after the World Cup.

But having agreed a move to France at the end of the season, Charteris is fit and firing to finish on a high at Rodney Parade.

"I feely pretty fresh," he said. "I'm two games into the season so it's quite novel this time of the season. Normally the body is falling apart. So it's quite a nice change.

"There's five games left for the Dragons and I'm looking forward to enjoying those.

"I have had ten years here and it's massively important to me that I go out on a high.

"I will be going out there and giving it everything I can because I want to finish with some good memories and enjoyable victories.

"A strong end to the season would be brilliant; last year we finished strongly and there was a good feeling as you headed off on holiday and a buzz in pre-season.

"It hasn't quite worked out as we would have liked this year but good results and performances from now until May would make the horrible pre-season and sand dunes a little easier to take.

"Everyone here has something to play for. Some want to stake a claim for a regular start and I know that I need to play well ahead of the Wales tour to Australia.

"I need to stay clear of injury and impress to get a spot on that trip so that I can try and get back into the side."
