However Edwards is confident it is far from doom and gloom for the Rodney Parade outfit with his side's result in Ireland vastly superior to that of English giants Leicester Tigers, who lost 41-7 at Ravenhill recently.
"It was tough for the boys because we were really in that game but then you look at the scoreboard at the end and it doesn't make good reading," said Edwards.
"There was some really good phase play and some good individual performances but we need to improve in that last third of the pitch and come away with points.
"It was a daunting task because they had beaten Leicester 41-7 in their previous home game but we attacked well, forced them to defend well and only had to make 60 tackles ourselves.
"But in the end if you put in a performance like that then you have to be closer than 30-12."
