The Warriors are on the trail of a sixth straight RaboDirect PRO12 win against the men from Newport, a result which would establish a new club record for the most consecutive tournament victories in a single season.
For the first time this season, Glasgow are not live on TV this week, and Townsend today urged the Glasgow support to turn out in force and continue the "fantastic backing" they've provided in the first four games at Scotstoun.
The head coach told www.glasgowwarriors.org : "The players and coaches have all been really impressed with the support we've received from the crowd so far this season. To sell out the Ulster game a fortnight ago, the first time we've done that for a match outside the derby against Edinburgh, was a tremendous effort from the fans, and we need them with us again this week.
"The players have done very well to put together some positive results in the RaboDirect PRO12, and we now have the opportunity to continue that run in back-to-back home games against Dragons and Leinster.
"It's vital that we maintain the momentum we've established, but we know that the Dragons game is another massive test. Matches between these teams have tended to be very tight and hard fought over the seasons, and it's in that sort of close contest where having a great home crowd at your back can really make a difference."
Main and North stand tickets are now on sale via www.glasgowwarriors.org and by calling 0844 800 3490 (Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm). Tickets are also available for the covered East Terrace that was put in place before the recent Ulster game.
Standing tickets are available in store at the Gordon Street and Sauchiehall Street branches of Greaves Sports, our official retail partner. Please note that Main and North stand tickets are not on sale at Greaves Sports.

As ever, community activation will be a key part of the Scotstoun match-day experience on Friday. Before the match, the under-18s of Lenzie and Cartha Queens Park will take to the IRB-approved 3G surface adjacent to the main pitch to play a curtain raiser game ahead of the main event.
The Lenzie v Cartha Queens Park game kicks off at 6pm, the same time the stadium turnstiles, bars and the Warriors Clubhouse all open. Supporters are welcome to arrive early, enjoy the facilities and watch the next generation of potential Warriors talent.
At half-time in the Dragons game, the minis of Lenzie, Cartha Queens Park, Hillfoots, Alloa and Grangemouth will be playing matches on the main pitch.
