But despite Copeland grabbing the first try of the game - writing his name into the history books in the process - the RaboDirect PRO12 outfit couldn't hold on for the win as they fell 19-11.
Davies insists the much-talked-about surface passed its first test with flying colours, as is 25-year-old Copeland in his first season with the Blues.
"The surface was very consistent and the scrum was pretty tidy, there was some good ball coming from there and the breakdown, again there was some quick ball coming from there," he said.
"There was a lot of movement in the game for both teams, which is positive, it feels a bit different from the Arms Park that's for sure!
"We're all fine bar Tom Williams but that was a collision injury, otherwise we're all fit and healthy and just disappointed we didn't win the game.
"He's 24 Robin, he played for Rotherham last year, I saw him at my time at Worcester and he's just a young fellow who has been doing that all year for us.
"He came as a number six but he's played at No.8 and played exceptionally well. He's doing really well for us."
