And with Irish powerhouse Munster coming to town this weekend Evans knows that his side must end their slump sooner rather than later.
A 59-22 mauling by Leinster last time out will not have done much for Evans and co's confidence but the former Scarlet is adamant that a fast start can bury memories of that defeat swiftly.
"It is important we start well, we need a good first 20 minutes because that will send a message that we're not as bad a side as some may think after the Leinster game," said Evans.
"The Arms Park crowd can be like an extra player. When it is bouncing the place is a brilliant atmosphere, we felt that when we got the early try against Toulon. The buzz was brilliant."
The Blues shipped nine tries against Leinster last weekend, a result that turned up the pressure on director of rugby Phil Davies despite being only nine games into his reign.
But Evans insists it is far from all doom and gloom in the camp.
"I know it didn't look it, but there were positives we could take from the Leinster game," he added.
"It was a difficult one to watch, but it is something we just have to put to bed, though we've analysed our mistakes.
"The boys are in great shape in strength and fitness and, while a couple of results haven't gone our way, that is rugby.
"Munster have quality players, they have flair in the backs with someone like Casey Laulala. He is someone who can produce magic from nothing and he has to be shut down as quickly as possible."
