The Wales centre initially picked up the knee problem in the Heineken Cup win over Racing Metro in November 2011, aggravated it against the Dragons a month later and while he played in all of Wales' Six Nations matches, he has been out of action since April and was forced to miss the summer tour to Australia.
Roberts was also forced to sit on the sidelines during the Blues' Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Leinster last term but he revealed he's now raring to go.
"It has been five and a half months, all in all, since the operation in April," said Roberts.
"It has been tough missing a Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leinster and the three summer Tests against Australia.
"It has been hard sitting them out but it has made me hungrier to come back and I have worked hard with the physios and conditioning staff."
