The Warriors went down 38-3 that day but Clermont Auvergne saw enough from the centre, who has also featured for Scotland at under-18 and under-20 level, to bring him to France.
And Bennett made a great initial impression before a knee injury interrupted his progress, the youngster returning to action in January.
Bennett has now re-joined the Warriors on loan until the end of the season and with his injury woes firmly behind him, is looking to hit the RaboDirect PRO12 ground running.
"It's hugely exciting for me to have the opportunity to return to Glasgow," he said.
"It's always been my ambition to play professional rugby for the Warriors, and it was a massively tough decision to leave for Clermont 18 months ago.
"There has been real progress at Glasgow on and off the field since then, and it's a great environment to be coming into.
"You only need to look at the quality and depth of the squad to know that the Warriors and Scottish Rugby are serious about taking the club forward, and I'm delighted to have the chance to play my part in that process."
