It was this cameo, as well as his Scotland debut six days earlier when he also came off the bench against World Cup winners New Zealand, that has earned Pyrgos his first international start in the No.9 jersey.
And the 23-year-old admits he is finding it hard to come to terms with his own metoric rise, but is determined to make the most of his opportunity before returning to help Glasgow climb up the RaboDirect PRO12 table, the Warriors currently sitting in third spot.
"I am thrilled and it has been great this week in training," Pyrgos told The Scotsman.
"Obviously, Rory [Lawson] and Mike [Blair] are two quality scrum-halves and I've just been trying to do my best and improve every week, and it's amazing that I've got this opportunity.
"This was never on my mind at the start of the season, so it was great to even get in the squad, to get on against New Zealand was amazing."
