Araoz is a welcome new recruit at a time when Glasgow have four significant injuries in the front row - props Ed Kalman (back), Moray Low (knee), and Jon Welsh (shoulder) and hooker Pat MacArthur (foot).
The 27-year-old locked Argentina's scrum in the May wins over Brazil and Chile, and was a key part of the Pampas side which competed against South African teams in this year's Vodacom Cup, reaching the quarter-finals. At club level, he has been a pivotal figure for Jockey Club Tucuman.
Head coach Gregor Townsend today welcomed Araoz to the club, telling www.glasgowwarriors.org: "We're very happy to be bringing on board another international prop at what is an intense juncture in the season.
"German is a strong scrummager and tackler who will give us an additional option in an area of the team where we have sustained a significant number of injuries.
"[Tonga loose-head] Ofa Fainga'anuku has given us a boost by coming in and hitting the ground running, making an immediate impression, and we're looking forward to working with German to help him do likewise."
Araoz said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to join a major European club like Glasgow Warriors. I've been really impressed by the facilities at Scotstoun, and I can't wait to get out on the training pitch with the rest of the squad to stake a claim for selection."

The Warriors' next game is a massive Heineken Cup Pool 4 clash with Ulster at Scotstoun this Friday (kick-off 8pm). There are now fewer than 1,100 tickets left for the match. Only a handful of seats are still available in the North stand, with fewer than 250 left in the Main stand. Tickets are also on sale for the covered East Terrace that has been put in place for this match in response to demand from supporters, and the west standing area.
Tickets are available via www.glasgowwarriors.org, and by calling our ticket hotline, 0844 800 3490 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm).
With walk-up crowds for similarly big games having been around the 1,500 mark in recent years, and fully four days until kick-off, supporters are strongly advised not to delay their purchase. We've already experienced what is comfortably our biggest ever pre-sale for a home fixture outside the 1872 Cup derby against Edinburgh Rugby
