But the Scarlets look up against it in Pool Five of the Heineken Cup, with Leinster and Clermont Auvergne the favourites to reach the last eight.
"It was difficult to take," said 37-year-old Easterby, who played for the Scarlets from 2003 to 2010.
"Ultimately there were a lot of errors in our game, and when you play a team like Leinster you have to make sure your error count is low.
"In the first half they won the battle of the breakdown definitely. We had a chat about that at half-time and we knew going into the game the way Greg Garner referees.
"He doesn't give many tackles for the attacker assist releasing. So we hold our hands up there and we got that badly wrong.
"But no excuse - we got what we deserved in the first half. I thought at 11-0 down we were starting to chase the game but we had a chat and came back with a couple of scores."
Fellow Welsh side Cardiff Blues face a tough test at home to Toulon on Sunday, having fallen to a narrow 34-33 defeat away at Sale last weekend.
Toulon meanwhile beat fellow French side Montpellier 37-16, and currently lead the Top 14 table in the French top-flight.
Ospreys are also in action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Leicester Tigers - and they will be high on confidence after dispatching Treviso 38-17 last week.
Leicester, European champions in both 2000/01 and 2001/02, suffered a 23-9 defeat away to Toulouse, and will be looking to get their Heineken Cup quest back on track.
