Former Aironi winger Giovanbattista Venditti was one such product of the now-defunct franchise who showed through his performances with Italy in the Six Nations that the club were producing talent of international standing.
But Manghi wants Zebre to show their claws this season, as well as developing players for the future, and results are high on his agenda.
"The minimum is to do better than how they (Aironi) did previously," said Manghi.
"I think that when Aironi were playing it wasn't about where they finished.
"It was about improving and developing. We want to start off where they finished and to get some results in that reflect that improvement.
"The game plan mustn't be to play within our limits. We have young players who don't have a limit to their development so we must play to that.
"We have to risk at the right time and above all we must not have a fear of the opponents."
