Man of the Match Jonathan Sexton scored a brace of tries in a personal tally of 28 points, with Nathan Hines also crossing the Saints line in the final 40 minutes.
The victory secured a second continental crown in three years for Leinster as they joined an elite group of teams to have picked up a European trophy on more than one occasion.
And as well as pressing their own claims to be judged as one of the tournament's truly great teams, Leinster re-affirmed the Magners League's recent success story in continental competition.
Saturday was the third time in four years and a fourth time in six that a Magners League side had won the Heineken Cup following Leinster's first triumph in 2009 and Munster's double success in 2006 and 2008.
Next on Leinster's agenda is the Magners League Grand Final as they look to finish off their season in style.
Joe Schmidt's men will hope to celebrate a unique double as they aim to become the first side to win both the Heineken Cup and Magners League in the same season.
To do so they will have to beat bitter rivals Munster in what should be a mouth-watering match up at Thomond Park on Saturday, May 28 (kick off 5.05pm).
