Turnbull reckons the Scarlets have a bright future

Turnbull was one of 21 players to pen a new deal with the Scarlets last week. He was delighted to secure his future at Parc y Scarlets and believes it signals the beginning of a very bright future.

"I'm signed and sealed with the Scarlets now. I'm happy because this is where my future is for the next three years.

"There's a great bunch of players here and I've grown up with a lot of them over the last few seasons.

"This season we've put our hands up as a team after being written off at the start of the year.

"We've given some of the biggest teams a run for their money but we are still on a big learning curve."

Turnbull has been involved in the Scarlets set-up since he was 15 and grew up with the vast majority of the 21 players to extend their deals.

And the former Welsh schools javelin champion reckons that familiarity could be key to future success.

"If you look at some of the biggest teams in Europe when they have won leagues and cups it's because they've a team which has been together for a long time.

"Munster, Leinster and Toulouse have all had players who have stuck together for a long period of time and if we can do that, keep learning and progressing, we won't be too far away in a couple of years time.

"The Scarlets mean a lot to me and you would die for the jersey. You put your body on the line for the place.

"People like Scott and Derek Quinnell, Simon Easterby, who represented this team for a long time, and they are legends.

"One day you want to be remembered like they are, as a top player."
