Walker set for landmark

The Swansea-based region face Newport Gwent Dragons in a Welsh derby at Rodney Parade tonight. They are currently third in the league with three games remaining.

Walker is anticipating a fierce clash against the Men of Gwent but he insists the Ospreys are determined to win the Magners League.

"It's good to reach that milestone," said Walker. "It's something to be proud of. A lot of good players have done it before me and there are a lot of good players in the squad. So to get there means a lot.

"Hopefully, we can go on and win this league. It's been a bit of an indifferent season. We've struggled to perform at times, what with losing players to the international scene. It can take a while to get back into things.

"Rodney Parade is quite hostile, with fans close to the ground. Also, teams like the Dragons seem to raise their games against us.

"People something read into this galacticos tag that is attached to the Ospreys. I don't think we are a squad who are liked by other squads.

"We are a team other sides like to lift themselves for. They try to get into us and rough us up. The Dragons are certainly good at that.

"They've been playing well since the new coach came in and now he's been appointed properly their players will be trying even harder to impress him, show they should be playing for the Dragons and putting themselves forward for next season.

"But the aim for us is to redeem ourselves by winning the Magners League."

Walker is also relishing the opportunity to lock horns with Aled Brew. The power-house wing has bagged eight tries for the Dragons this season and lies third in the Magners League try-scoring table.

"He's a very good player, physical and fast, an international-class wing," added Walker.

"I'm surprised that he's not had more games for Wales. He seems to perform week-in, week-out for the Dragons.

"But I've been quite happy with my own form. "I think I've been pretty consistent this season, though maybe in the last couple of weeks I haven't played as I would like to, I don't think anyone has.

"But hopefully, both individually and collectively we'll hit some form at the right time starting with the Dragons."
