Melrose fly-half Scott Wright is the latest club player to be highlighted for the step up, with the 25-year-old being invited to train with the Warriors next week.
Wright has been a star performer in Melrose's title-winning season and has represented the Scotland Club side for the past three years.
And while Glasgow boss Sean Lineen has not yet offered Wright a contract, an impressive week's training could see him earn a professional deal for next term and beyond.
"We are bringing Scott over for a look at him in our training environment, and, while we are making no commitments yet, I wouldn't be doing that if I didn't rate him highly," Lineen told The Scotsman.
"He is a talented player who can control a game, is in good shape and is a decent lad with a good, grounded attitude."
The Warriors currently lie 10th in the Magners League table after an inconsistent campaign that has been heavily disrupted by injuries to key players.
And with a World Cup on the horizon and seemingly limited funds for transfers, it appears likely that Lineen will continue to put his faith in local talent when attempting to strengthen his squad for next season.
"I have been looking at various options to strengthen the squad for next season and I am always looking at club players in Scotland," added Lineen.
"The club game has stepped up in the last couple of seasons with the British and Irish Cup and the top clubs are improving each season.
"We have brought good players from the club game through each year but it does mean we have a lot of young boys who are still learning. Scott is 25 and has good experience that could complement the younger players. Right now it's one step at a time."
