Although the Warriors provided Scotland's largest single representation with eight players, they could have had more players going to New Zealand in the form of No.8 Johnnie Beattie, prop Ryan Grant and loose forward Rob Harley.
And Lineen believes the best way to prove the national selectors wrong is by helping Glasgow get off to a flier against Ulster in their opening RaboDirect Pro12 fixture.
He said: "I'm absolutely thrilled for the eight guys who will be flying the flag for Glasgow in New Zealand while representing Scotland.
"Each and every one of them deserves this opportunity through the dedication and desire they have brought to their work both with the Warriors and the national team, and I know they will be giving it absolutely everything to make the country proud next month.
"To Johnnie Beattie, Ryan Grant and Rob Harley, I'd like to offer my commiserations, because I know how hard they've pushed to get on that plane throughout what has been an intense and productive summer.
"It's right and proper that they'll be disappointed, but I'm looking forward to having them back in the fold and raring to go at Scotstoun as we look ahead to our friendly at Sale Sharks on Friday and our first RaboDirect PRO12 fixture away to Ulster next week.
"It's going to be a challenge for us having a good number of guys away at the World Cup, but we've seen in the close season period and in the win over Newcastle Falcons last week that the players we have with us are hungry to do well and show the pride they have in performing for Glasgow."
