The home side found themselves 15 v 0 with just 13 minutes on the clock after tries from Tom Court and Craig Gilroy but they found more tires hard to come by as the match drew on and failed in their bid to claim their fourth try-bonus of the season, something that disappointed coach Brian McLaughlin.
"If you look at the game I think that in the first 20 minutes we played magnificent rugby," he said.
"I think the problem was that we scored 15 points too quickly.
"That is something we really need to look at because we ended up in a position we shouldn't really have been in.
"We put ourselves under ferocious pressure for most of the second half and being realistic we didn't play well after the first 20 minutes."
Ruan Pienaar who kicked eight points from fly-half was glad with then win and turned his attentions immediately to Ulster next opponents.
"It is another win," he said.
"We've got a big one against Dragons next and hopefully we'll get a win in that to keep the momentum going."
