Lineen - Glasgow can kick-start Scottish weekend

While the National team meet Italy in the RBS 6 Nations on Saturday, Glasgow have their own Italian job in the Magners League against Benetton Treviso.

It's been a difficult season for last year's play-off semi-finalists and they currently lie 11th in the league table.

But Lineen is determined to see his side get their season back on track with a triumph at Firhill tonight.

"They're above us in the table but we are where we are," said Lineen. "It's been a tough couple of weeks training and the guys aren't resting, we know how important this one is for Scottish rugby.

"It will be the fifth game we've played in the Six Nations window, there's been improvement but we need to get a result.

"The boys know performance is one thing but at the beginning of an important weekend for Scottish rugby it would be great to get the win over Treviso.

"After the Italian win over France in the Six Nations i'm sure Treviso will be buoyed.

"They're ninth in the table in year one and have some quality players like Joe Maddock. They're a well backed club who've been around for a long time.

"We'll respect them, they've a very big pack full of South African and Italian players and have some outstanding attacking talent in the backs.

"This game's really important for Glasgow Rugby, it's been a challenging season but we have to stay in the present and make sure the guys deliver.

"We just need to turn up with the right attitude and get stuck in."

Lineen has parachuted Moray Low back into his starting line-up. The prop was dropped from the Scotland squad ahead of their clash with the Azzurri.

And Lineen has called on Low to prove his doubters wrong.

"Moray will be disappointed after being dropped by Scotland but that's the harsh reality of sport," added Lineen.

"But he's back and he needs to prove to himself and the coaches of Glasgow and Scotland that he's the man for the job.

"He'll be hurting but we want to see a really big performance from him against a quality Italian scrum.

"He's not a bad player, he just needs to up his game. He's been our number one tight head for the season.

"We need to support him and he needs to make sure he repays our faith which i'm sure he will."
