Scrivener calls for response

Scrivener is still seething from last week's loss to the Scarlets, which stretched Edinburgh's losing streak to four matches in the Magners League.

Edinburgh have already tasted defeat at the hands of the Blues three times this season, the 34-23 opening day league loss and two more in Europe.

But Scrivener hopes a return to Murrayfield can help his side get back to winning ways after six weeks on the road.

"Cardiff at Murrayfield is vital now," said Scrivener.

"The crowd have helped us over the line in a few tight games, like Glasgow and Ulster, and we'll be doing everything we can to earn that level of backing again against Cardiff.

"We've had a tough run of matches on the road, and we're all really looking forward to being amongst our own people again come Friday night and giving them a positive performance and result.

"There is a lot for us to work on and improve from the Scarlets game, and both myself and the supporters need to see a reaction from the players.

"The Scarlets game was disappointing, I thought with the way we played the score could've been triple what it was. It was disappointing in all areas of our performance.

"Our physicality and enthusiasm was not good enough. We were falling off tackles, they were stripping the ball from our hands. We were incredibly flat.

"We now need a response out of the guys, the Scarlets performance wasn't good enough and I'm looking forward to see how we respond against the Blues."

Edinburgh currently lie ninth in the Magners League, 18-points adrift of the play-off places. But they will be hoping a win on Friday can help kick-start their faltering season.
