Will Harries pulled out of the game before the warm-up and his replacement Ashley Smith was then taken off early himself. Second-row Robert Sidoli didn't last much longer and he was then joined by Scott Morgan on the sideline as well.
With both second-rows of the field and a re-jigged backline the Dragons gradually lost their foothold in the game and Edwards was left disappointed after the game.
"It was really difficult for us," said Edwards.
"We took a few bad injuries and that cost us dearly, not only on the scoreboard but in terms of our squad as well. All round it was a pretty bad day."
"Our casualties are all looking at being out for a couple of weeks, and it's not really a good time to be without players.
"We lost our centre after 20 minutes and then we lost our two second-rows.
"After that our lineout fell apart, and we weren't able to compete. You couldn't really blame our guys for lack of effort, but we had three sevens in the pack, which made it extremely difficult for us."
