He has now returned to full-fitness and earned the right for a starting place and is looking forward to just doing what he loves week-in, week-out - playing rugby.
"When you're injured and not playing games, the weeks and days all seem the same. When you have a game at the end of the week you can build up to it, so I've been really happy to have that routine back in my life to link up the weeks of training," Webster told the Scotsman.
"I've been quite patient and waited until it was right. Getting fit is a process and not something that you can do in just a few weeks. It takes a lot longer and there are so many parts to it: general fitness, speed work, power, decision-making and getting used to the team again.
"I've reached a huge milestone. Since that Castres game away I really haven't missed a training session or a weights session. I've been available for every game and that's been a huge part of the process. Craig Joiner used to say that the best way to get fit is to keep fit, and that's my mindset at the moment.
"I'd like to think that I'm in a better position to play well than I was even two months ago when I first became available for selection. But I'm not thinking far ahead. I'm not thinking about that (being in contention for the World Cup]. I know it's a cliche, but a week is such a long time in sport. I'm really just trying to link the weeks together and get some decent game time. The focus for me now is to make sure that when I play I actually play well. I'm not thinking about anything beyond that."
