Ospreys teen star eager to learn

Standing at 5' 8" and weighing at just 11st 7lb, the 18-year-old fly-half is not your stereotypical modern day rugby player.
But he more than makes up for it with his blistering pace and eye for a gap.

Morgan made his Magners League debut against Connacht in November and has been tipped to go on to great things.

But Morgan insists he still has plenty to learn in senior rugby and revealed he models his game on a combination of Ospreys team-mate James Hook and England's Jonny Wilkinson.

"I've always liked watching Jonny Wilkinson at outside-half, just the way he plays and controls the game," said Morgan.

"And I love seeing James Hook at 10 because he's just got that great spark about him.

"I'd like to keep developing and know when to run, kick or pass and control the game better as I come on.

"Sometimes you can't run the ball and have to play in the right places.

"I will keep learning and hopefully that will develop and I'll make the right choices at the right time.

"I'm pleased with my form. There are obviously things to work on, but that will come as I keep playing and keep improving."

Morgan admits he has enjoyed the hype following his impressive performances.

"It's good for people to recognise you and say 'Look, there's Matthew Morgan." said the talented teenager.

"I didn't really do much sprint training in school, I've always been a little nippy fella, so I try to keep that up and use that to my advantage.

"But obviously you've got to put in a lot of hard work in the background. I try to keep developing and put the performances in at the weekend."
