Brew was part of the Wales' World Cup squad and touched down in the victory over Namibia.
However Warren Gatland is expected to partner either Scarlets' Liam Williams or Blues' Alex Cuthbert out wide against Australia alongside Shane Williams who will be making his farewell appearance.
But far from writing off his future chances under Gatland, Edwards expects Brew to respond in the best possible way.
"Hopefully, there are good reasons why Aled has been left out and there's a Welsh career still there for him," he said.
"I hope that's the case because he is only 25 and has got plenty of years ahead of him.
"If he's used properly Aled is a very useful and destructive rugby player.
"He certainly wants to play for Wales and I'm sure he will make that point on Friday night at the Scarlets.
"He's a tough competitor and he'll be fine. I'm very, very disappointed for Aled because he's an amazing player for us.
"As for left-wings in Wales I don't think anyone is better or anyone who has such a big impact on games."
