In direct contrast Davies and co. secured themselves a morale-boosting winning start with the Scarlets centre notching the decisive score in a 31-23 win over Castres.
And with that victory over the high-flying French outfit still fresh in their minds Davies insists it will be a buoyant Scarlets side that arrive in Northampton on Friday.
"Northampton is a great place to go," said Davies.
"I've played there once before and they've got great support and a very physical, strong team.
"But we have got a lot of confidence from our performance against Castres and we have to make sure we can match up with one of the best team's in Europe now."
Davies won plaudits galore for his displays in the Welsh midfield at the World Cup recently but far from suffering a New Zealand hangover Davies is delighted to be back with the RaboDirect PRO12 mid-table outfit.
"The brand of rugby we play here is a very exciting one," said Davies.
"Sometimes it's high-risk and we can run ourselves ragged a bit.
"But when it comes off it's great to be a part of.
"We enjoy playing rugby together and once we get confidence and forward momentum, we've got ability on the ball and some good ball players that can create a good game."
