No. 8 Beattie appeared nailed on for the trip to New Zealand not so long ago but a dip in form coupled with a series of injuries eventually resulted in a shock snub by Scotland coach Andy Robinson.
Beattie has not featured yet for the Warriors this season but coach Sean Lineen confirmed he would be used as an impact replacement against Treviso on Friday.
But despite just missing out on a second consecutive World Cup, Beattie insists his New Zealand disappointment is a thing of the past.
"At the back of my mind I always thought there was a strong chance I wouldn't be going," said Beattie.
"After my operation last year I hadn't really played particularly well - and I didn't perform all that well either in the World Cup warm-up Test against Ireland at Murrayfield.
"So, taking those things into account, I had a feeling I would be staying at home. I had sort of prepared myself for it - but naturally I was disappointed for three or four days.
"It was hard to think about not going to New Zealand with my mates in the wake of the build-up all summer.
"But, once they actually flew to the training camp in Queensland, I was okay."
