The Ospreys host Edinburgh this weekend after having dispatched last year's runners up and Heineken Cup winners Leinster in the opening round of fixtures.
Last Friday's 27-3 victory at the Liberty Stadium was a fine all-round performance by the Ospreys built on a fine defensive second-half display.
And it is those qualities that Holley is adamant his side must continue to display if they are to have any form of success this season.
"We're really pleased with the way the lads approached the game last week, we caught them cold and showed a lot of poise and maturity," he said.
"But we didn't hold onto the ball as much as we should have so it ended up being a proper defensive effort in the second half.
"We are definitely keeping our feet on the ground, you want to win your home games so we're not jumping up and down too much about that result.
"We put in a good shift on the weekend so it's nice to have eight days off and rest the limbs after that clash.
"It's a case of one game at a time, you can never look too far ahead and after winning our first match that already changes how people will approach games against us.
"You can never go beyond the fixture in hand, it's a fine line between confidence and complacency so we will be focusing on ourselves and hopefully that will be enough against Edinburgh on Saturday."
