And a defeat to Aironi last time out is unlikely to inspire much confidence ahead of Edinburgh's clash with the Red Army but McGinty is adamant that his side are more than a match for the Irish outfit.
"Munster are top of the league and unbeaten and there for us to have a really good shot at," he said.
"I do believe that on our day we have what it takes to beat them, it's just a case of sticking to our game plan and, more than anything else, we let ourselves down in that respect against Aironi.
"The guys were gutted at the end but games like that happen sometimes, but we need to analyse it and see where we went wrong.
"Munster do have some frailties, like any team, so it's just a case of us executing in our own performance and showing a lot of energy in getting around a park, defending with vigour.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for our guys to show what they're made of, Munster are the top dogs and there to be taken down, we really could spring a surprise on Friday.
"We've got a lot of talented players here and we need them all going in the same direction in the same game and hopefully that will be Friday because if it does it will be a great win for Edinburgh rugby."
The 25-19 defeat in Italy last weekend was certainly a bodyblow for the Scottish side but McGinty has called on his troops to learn from the experience ahead of Friday.
"We are all bitterly disappointed about the general level of performance against Aironi last time out, it was well under par and everyone at the club knows that," he added.
"We did manage to get a bonus point out of it which is a positive, we just need to look forward now and move on.
"We need to get out of the way of the loss and start thinking about ourselves more positively and get excited about the Munster game."
