Andy Robinson will name his Championship squad tomorrow but Vernon is adamant not to get his hopes up.
"I have no idea what is going to happen this week in terms of the Scotland squad," said Vernon
"Of course I am hoping, but I don't like to speculate. There are loads and loads of great back-rowers in the country at the moment.
"I want to be involved but, if it doesn't happen, I will go with Glasgow to Wales and do my utmost to help them.
"We have some important matches coming up in the Magners League and we need to keep our momentum up. We know as a team we have improved as the season has gone on and it is a matter of finding consistency."
Glasgow are next in Magners League action on February 11, when they welcome Cardiff Blues to Firhill before travelling to Connacht the following week.
