Having conceded three second-half tries in defeat at Firhill a week earlier, Moffat's men had their line breached just once at the home of Scottish Rugby.
And although Moffat admitted other aspects of his side's performance still need to improvement, he was clearly delighted to have finally ended his Glasgow hoodoo.
"We defended well in bits at Firhill but tonight we defended well all the way through," Moffat told the Scotsman immediately after the game.
"In flashes we played well but couldn't get the platform through playing in fits and starts. When we could play with a bit of pace and rhythm and width we did well, but didn't do that often enough.
"However, credit and respect to Glasgow who could have won at the end in what was a pretty good advert for Scottish Rugby.
"But there have only been two defeats at home, including Northampton where we really should have won, and that gave us confidence against a Glasgow side who were drawing on having won the last four derbies.
"Put yourself in the players' minds and it is a big thing that they were able to overcome a Glasgow team who had reason to believe right up until the end that they could win."
Sunday's victory may not have been enough to wrestle the 1872 Cup back from the Warriors due to an inferior points difference over the two festive matches but it did see Edinburgh move seven points clear of their national rivals in the Magners League standings.
Edinburgh now sit seven points off a coveted Play-Off spot ahead of Saturday's home tie with the second-placed Scarlets having won six of their 12 league fixtures so far this term.
