That calmness was showcased best by his last-gasp penalty to seal the frantic 30-29 win as the largely-dominant Dragons snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Jones' maturity beyond his years, the Dragons rookie will not turn 21 until the end of the month, will no doubt lead to lofty predictions about his future in the game.
However with fellow youngster Jason Tovey, 22, a shoo-in for the No. 10 jersey Jones - who can also play at full-back - is ready to play the waiting game.
"It was great to have a good game and kick the winning points against Wasps," said Jones.
"I couldn't have asked for anything more really but I have just got to keep my feet firmly on the ground.
"The aim is to try and get as much game time as I can this season and hopefully I can do that. But I am not going to get ahead of myself because I just need to concentrate on playing well in training and hopefully taking my chance when it comes.
"Obviously I had a good game last weekend but I have got to put that behind me now."
