Having started the season like a house on fire with three successive bonus-point victories, the Blues' campaign is in danger of coming off the rails after losses to Ulster, Munster and now Glasgow, who ran in four tries at the Cardiff City Stadium.
There were few overall positives to take out of the performance, but Burnell revealed his biggest concern came at the scrum, where the Warriors quickly seized the ascendancy.
"This was a big eye opener," he said. "It wasn't one area. Collectively across the board it was very disappointing.Nothing happened.
"It was poor organisation from a defensive point of view and then, when it came to the crunch, we get penalised for two crucial scrums.
"I am not going to sit here and defend that, because I am obviously bitterly disappointed myself.
"The scrum has been very good this season, a massive improvement.
"It's not something we will be panicking about. Unfortunately, a couple of people had a bad day at the office and we have just got to move forward.
"The players were quick to hold their hands up afterwards, but it's not just about the players, it's about everybody."
