And this inexperience shone through as the Ospreys conceded four tries in the defeat, with three Matthew Morgan penalties all the Welsh side could muster in response.
But Tandy believes that despite a first loss of the season for the early RaboDirect PRO12 leaders, the knowledge the youngsters will have taken away from the clash will prove crucial for the future.
He said: "Our set-piece didn't really function and we didn't take the one or two opportunities that we did get. We just didn't get enough quality ball.
"But there were a lot of positives as well and I think Eli Walker in particular was very good on the wing.
"We had brought a young group of players - probably six or seven of them making their debuts for Ospreys which is a positive from us, giving them experience of where they need to be to be an Ospreys player."
