But ahead of the break, the defending European champions had built up some considerable momentum after a sticky start, racking up wins in each of their last three matches.
And Gibbes admits his side must focus on extending their winning streak at Murrayfield where they were defeated 32-24 last season but where they will look to succeed this season where both Munster and Connacht have already failed.
"There will be some World Cup players involved because there were some that didn't get a great deal of game time and then there are some others who had a heavier workload and they will be integrated maybe next week," said Gibbes.
"The two weeks off could be a good thing and freshen everyone up but it could be a bit of a hindrance in terms of losing a bit of momentum that we were beginning to put together.
"But we've put ourselves in a good position in the table. It will be a big challenge at Murrayfield though because they are a good side - they obviously put Munster to the sword.
"We really struggled last year in this fixture and beat us up all over the park. It wasn't great for us last year but we'll be making sure that we're ready for it mentally."
