McLaughlin's side have run out of steam somewhat, losing their last three matches ahead of the two-week break, leaving them eighth in the table.
Having played integral roles in Ireland's march to the quarter-final, including an historic victory over Australia along the way, both Ferris and hooker Rory Best will be absent from Ulster's clash with the Scarlets on Saturday.
But wing Andrew Trimble, who played more of a bit-part role, is available at the weekend - and Ferris is hoping to see his side back on song in Wales.
"It was fantastic in New Zealand and a great experience out there and we played some really good rugby," said Ferris.
"It was good to be walking down to breakfast in New Zealand and saying to the Munster and Leinster lads, have you seen the table?
"But it's a disappointing that we lost three on the bounce but hopefully we'll be back to winning ways shortly."
Best meanwhile, believes it's the right decision to sit out Saturday's game - but he's raring to go to get back into domestic action.
He added: "The medics have been really good in terms of letting the bumps and bruises settle but it's looking like we should both play some game time after this weekend."
