There was even less let up for new boy Rees who has been embroiled in international action for the past fortnight as part of the all-star Barbarians side that faced Ireland and his native Wales, for whom he earned nine Test caps.
Continuing the tradition of wearing your club socks when playing for the famous exhibition side, Rees sported one blue and one black to recognise the transition between Cardiff Blues and the Murrayfield club as he sniped over for a score at the Millenium Stadium.
In his first week in Edinburgh Rees is delighted to be fully acquainted with the new setting and earning the right to be decked out fully in black and red, from head to both sets of toes.
In an audio interview with edinburghrugby.org, he said: "It's good to get here. I arrived on Sunday after the Wales game and went straight into pre-season on Monday.
"We've started relatively early, but it's good to get the hard work in and lay a solid platform on which to build throughout the season.
"Last year Edinburgh Rugby had some big performances in the Heineken Cup and our aim is to bring that form into the RaboDirect PRO12 and compete in the both fronts, constantly challenging ourselves as individuals and as a side."
