The Blues made a sensational start to the season thumping both Edinburgh and Treviso to be the league's early pacesetters.
But three successive defeats to Ulster, Munster and Glasgow halted that initital momentum before picking another bonus-point win, 37-26 away at Aironi.
And while the positives outweigh the negatives for Baber he still wants to see a more clinical edge in attack and a ruthless streak in defence,
"Certain aspects of our performance in Aironi were pleasing, in terms of putting pressure on them when we had ball in hand," he said.
"We'd looked at areas to improve and executed them well in the first half.
"Obviously we were a bit disappointed that we let the tries in.
"We wanted to keep out the opposition and unfortunately we put ourselves in a situation where we've given them four tries.
"Overall, it's pretty obvious that the Glasgow game was one where we targeted getting a win and we failed badly.
"That was our biggest failure in six matches. Had we got those points we'd be in the top two or three.
"We find ourselves in fourth place, which isn't bad when you take into account the players we have to come back into system.
"There have been aspects that have been frustrating but there have been some real positives come out of the first six weeks. It's our aim to keep that going."
