Steven Lawrie and Matt Scott touched down while Greig Laidlaw added 19 points with the boot as Edinburgh ended Munster's record-breaking run of consecutive wins at 14.
But with only two wins from their first five outings Denton, who picked up the man of the match award on Friday night, has warned his teammates that the hard work is still to be done.
"It's absolutely massive to put away a team like Munster, they are the league winners from last year so it's great experience and a great way for us to learn how to beat teams like these," he said.
"There was a great feeling out on the pitch, because that was a must-win game for us as most of them are from now on.
"There are no easy games in this league and we need to start evening out our win and loss columns and then win a few more after that if we want to be challenging higher up the table for the playoffs.
"Our set piece was massive, we knew how important it was going to be to get a solid start behind our set-piece and we did that.
"We needed to give our backs good ball which we've really struggled to do in recent weeks but we got it right in this game for the most part."
The 21-year-old Denton, who was part of Scotland's wider training squad for the World Cup this autumn, has made a fine start to the season but insists there is no room for complacency as a team or as individuals.
"Personally I'm feeling very confident, I'm enjoying this season a lot, getting the pre-season in with Scotland was great and that did wonders for my confidence," he said.
"But there's no chance of me sitting back and resting on my laurels, there's always competition in the back row especially at a club like Edinburgh when the other lads come back from the World Cup."
