Brendan Williams crossed twice in the opening 16 minutes after Alessandro Zanni had opened the scoring for the Italian side who were rampant in the early stages.
Ludovico Nitoglia added the fourth early after the break, with Tobias Botes, Robert Barbieri and Paul Derbyshire completing the rout.
The Dragons had scored consolation tries in the form of two from Tonderai Chavhanga and one form Steffan Jones late on but it was nowhere near enough and leaves them second from bottom in the league table, with just ten points from their seven matches.
And Edwards conceded he was embarrassed by the Dragons' most recent display.
"I'm shocked and it was a embarrassing experience," said Edwards. "I've never seen something like that happen before during my time at the Dragons.
"It's a physical sport and when you get dominated as we did then a scoreline like this is always a possibility.
"We certainly weren't good enough and we got exactly what we deserved because everyone to a man was dominated by their opposite number."
