Robling moved from his usual fly-half position to take up the inside centre spot and produced a solid enough display in the 24-19 defeat to ensure he gets another chance to prove his worth in the Dragons' LV=Cup clash with Bath on Saturday.
And after seeing the likes of Wales U20 compatriot George North and England's Manu Tuilagi shine on at the World Cup, Robling has vowed to tred his own path to international stardom.
"They are an inspiration for young players," said Robling. "They show that it is not impossible and that as long as we can play high-level rugby then the future can be ours.
"The way that George has progressed after just a few Scarlets appearances has been incredible and shows that your career can shoot up in an instant.
"It's an inspiration to strive for improvement, to keep playing and playing, whether for the Dragons or for Newport.
"It's nice to know that if you do play well in the Premiership the coaches are watching - both me and Hugo Ellis have been given opportunities after doing well for Newport.
"The LV= Cup is a great opportunity to put down a marker, to put in a good performance and build from there.
"A lot of younger players have been given a chance and we need to make sure that we take it with both hands."
