The club and main sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management have challenged fans to submit their cover designs for the official match programme, with the winning artwork reproduced in their thousands on the big night.
For each programme sold Aberdeen Asset Management will donate 50p to the club's official charity, Edinburgh Sick Kids Foundation.
Edinburgh Rugby captain, Grieg Laidlaw, said: "The 1872 Cup derby matches are the biggest games in Scottish club rugby and are steeped in history, so the chance to design the programme cover for this historic anniversary is a tremendous prize."
"Christmas is special time for families so, while this a fantastic prize, it will also help raise money and awareness for a great cause that has touched the lives of thousands of people in east of Scotland."
The lucky winner will also be invited to treat their family to a night at the rugby, with a family ticket included in the prize.
